Castledon Paw Parlour is here to help you keep your dog in tip-top condition!
Also by offering this service, it will also help Greyhounds that have yet to find a home of their own, as a percentage from each treatment will be donated to Castledon Greyhound Rescue.

How to care for your Greyhound or Lurcher to keep them in good health and excellent condition

Nails
Greyhound’s nails tend to grow very quickly, so they need regular trimming. When your Greyhound was racing, he/she would get their nails cut on a regular basis.
I wouldn’t recommend that you take this upon yourself unless you have experience. You must be aware that if you cut the quick, it will bleed quite a bit and be painful to your dog. This will often result in your dog being afraid/nervous of any future nail trimming – they don’t forget a bad/painful experience! Nail trimming should really only be carried out by an experienced person to avoid this happening.
Nails are best managed, if they are over long, by cutting them weekly until they return back to the correct length. Generally, nails should be trimmed at least every 6 weeks.

Brushing Teeth
Greyhounds tend to have lots of problems with their teeth which is usually caused by being fed sloppy food in racing kennels. You should brush your dog’s teeth at least twice a week, and also have your dog’s teeth de-scaled every couple of months if possible – this will avoid your dog getting bad teeth which will eventually lead to your dog having to have costly dentals & teeth extractions which can easily be avoided – bring your Greyhound to our Paw Parlour

Ear Cleaning
It is very important to keep your dogs ears clean as this will prevent ear infections that are caused by canker build up. This also keeps ears smelling clean.

Bathing your Dog
We have a booster bath at the Paw Parlour so that your hound can have a professional bath. We offer a wide range of different shampoos and conditioners to suit your hound. For example, if you have a white hound we will use a special whitening shampoo to bring the colour out in the coat. If you would prefer a more scented shampoo, we have a variety of different smelling shampoos available. Once your dog has had his bath he/she will be wrapped in a doggy bath coat and finished with a blow dry.
